Sending flowers to a hospital
Include the patient's full name, the hospital, ward and bed or room number in the delivery details, and a phone number for the patient or a family member if you have it. Some wards, such as intensive care, don't allow flowers, so check with the hospital or family first. A box or vase arrangement is the most practical choice because nurses don't need to find a vase. Sending get well flowers to the home
If they're recovering at home, a bouquet or arrangement is a lovely surprise, and you can pair it with a teddy bear, chocolates or a candle (candles are usually not allowed in hospitals, so save those for home). A Welcome Home balloon is a nice touch.
What to write on a get well card
Keep it light and warm. For example: "Thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery", "Get well soon, we miss you", or "Sending sunshine your way". Add your message at checkout and we'll handwrite it on the card.
Choosing flowers for a hospital room
Keep the arrangement modest in size, because bedside tables are small and rooms are often shared. Strongly scented flowers can be unpleasant for someone who feels unwell, and lily pollen can bother people with allergies or asthma. Roses, gerberas, orchids and seasonal blooms with little scent are good choices. If you'd like lilies, ask us to remove the pollen-bearing stamens, and add a note if the patient has allergies and we'll design around them.
Wards that don't accept flowers
Intensive care units generally don't allow flowers, and some oncology, transplant, burns and maternity wards restrict them because of infection risk. Rules vary by hospital and can change, so call the ward before ordering. If flowers aren't allowed, send them home for when they return, or send a teddy bear or card instead. Some hospitals also ban latex balloons; foil balloons are usually fine.
Sydney hospitals we deliver to

What if they've been discharged?
If the patient has gone home, we'll contact you using the details on your order to agree what to do next, such as delivering to their home instead. Adding the patient's mobile number and home address in the order notes helps us sort it out quickly.
