What is a casket spray?

A casket spray is the arrangement placed on top of the casket during the service. It is traditionally chosen by the immediate family or partner, and it is often the centrepiece of the funeral flowers. A full casket spray covers most of the lid; a half-casket spray covers part of it and is often used for an open casket.

Choosing colours and flowers

All-white casket flowers, with white roses, lilies, chrysanthemums and soft greenery, are the most traditional choice and suit every faith and culture. Blush pink and white is often chosen for a mother, grandmother or daughter, and soft blue and white for a father, grandfather or son. Red roses with white orchids are a common choice from a partner, while soft yellow, blush or ivory with white orchids give a warm, elegant tribute. Many families ask for the person's favourite flower or colour to be worked into the spray, whether that's a garden rose, a native or a bright seasonal bloom. Matching the rest of the funeral flowers

The casket spray usually sets the colour palette for the service. If you tell us the colours you've chosen, we can make matching wreaths, crosses, hearts and standing sprays for other family members, and sympathy arrangements for the home or wake, so the flowers look consistent in the chapel and in photos.

How to order casket flowers

1. Choose a design online, or call us for a custom casket spray.
2. Add the deceased's full name, the funeral director's name and phone number, and the service date and time in the order notes.
3. We confirm the delivery time with the funeral director and deliver ahead of the service, using our own drivers.

Every casket spray is made fresh to order. We use the best seasonal flowers available and substitute with flowers of equal or greater value when needed, keeping the colours you chose.

Delivery to the funeral home

Casket sprays are delivered to the funeral home before the service so they can be placed on the casket, or to the chapel or church if the funeral director prefers. Please give us the deceased's full name, the funeral director's name and phone number, and the service date and time. For a service in the next day or two, call (02) 9759 7324 so we can confirm timing.

The immediate family or partner, sometimes shared between siblings. Other relatives and friends usually send a wreath or cross instead.

How much are casket flowers?

Our casket flowers start from $799.95 for the Standard size, with Luxe at $999.95 and Super Deluxe at $1,799.95. Custom designs are priced on request.

How far ahead should I order a casket spray?

Ideally a day or more before the service, so we can confirm details with the funeral director. If the service is sooner, call (02) 9759 7324 and we will do everything we can.

Can you deliver casket flowers to Rookwood?

Yes. Rookwood is about 10 minutes from our shop, and delivery is $19.95. Sunday deliveries add $15, and same-day orders placed after 1pm add a $15 priority charge (not charged on Greenacre deliveries). Only one $15 surcharge applies per order. See our delivery information.
